Below are the different comfort levels for mattresses, listed from hardest to softest:
Firm Mattresses
Firm mattresses have very little give, so your body does not sink into tho mattress when you lay on it. Some mattress stores will sell variations of firm mattresses (i.e. extra firm, ultra firm).
Plush-Firm Mattresses
A plush-firm mattress offers a little extra padding for comfort, but still provides a firm feel. Plush-firm mattresses are good for the person who wants a firm mattress, but desires a soft feel as well.
Plush Mattresses
A plush mattress has extra layers of padding that allow your body to become enveloped in the mattress as you lay on it. Each mattress store may offer various levels of plushness, which will contain different depths of foam for comfort.
Pillow Top Mattresses
A pillow top mattress provides a thick layer of padding that sits on top of the mattress, providing a very soft feel. A pillow top can be added to any firm and plush mattresses, so you get a luxury sleep experience without compromising your desired support level.
